ABSTRACT
The choice of the topic of the article was dictated by the topicality of the issue of the impact of the migration phenomenon on the level of state security. This problem was visible mainly during the migration crisis in the territory of the European Union, which started in mid-2015, caused by the mass influx of people from North Africa and the Middle East. In addition, the potential threat to the Republic of Poland with negative effects of migration is related to the growing scale of immigration (limited by the global SARS-COV-2 pandemic), as well as the geographical location, which is related to the transit location in the center of Europe and the fact that the eastern border of Poland establishes the external border of the Pact North Atlantic, European Union and the so-called Schengen zones. The subject of the study of the article, which is the migration policy of the Republic of Poland after 2015, is also important in the context of waiting for the declared adoption of new assumptions of the country’s migration policy, on which work could not be completed due to the SARS-COV-2 pandemic. The purposes of the research were: exploring the migration policy of the Republic of Poland in the context of state security, identification of potential threats, as well as comparison of the as well as comparing the assumptions expressed in the content of strategic documents with the social perception. In the research process, a triangulation of qualitative and quantitative research methods was used. The first category includes the analysis of the sources of selected strategic documents devoted to the issues of Polish migration policy, and the second category includes a diagnostic survey carried out using the CAWI survey technique. The research process referred to the paradigm of the Paris school as a critical security school, exploring the subject of research in a holistic rather than sectoral approach, as is the case with the Copenhagen school concept, and thus focusing on the general security of the state, not on its individual sectors. The main research problem took the form of a question: What are the main assumptions of the migration policy of the Republic of Poland in the context of state security after 2015? Two detailed problems have been adopted to deepen the exploration: Detailed problem 1: To what extent is the social perception of the migration policy of the Republic of Poland consistent with the assumptions expressed in the content of strategic documents? Detailed problem 2: What is the social perception of the behavior of the Polish authorities towards the so-called migration crisis? The main hypothesis was the assumption that: The main assumptions of the migration policy of the Republic of Poland after 2015 focus on immigration of foreigners and the resulting potential threats to state security. The main hypothesis has been explicated into two detailed hypotheses, adequate to specific research problems: Detailed hypothesis 1: The social perception of the migration policy of the Republic of Poland is largely consistent with the assumptions expressed in the content of strategic documents. Detailed hypothesis 2: Respondents positively assess the actions of the Polish authorities towards the so-called the migration crisis. The results of the research allow us to state the relative compliance of social perception in the field of Polish migration policy with the assumptions indicated in the content of strategic documents. The respondents assessed it positively, including Poland’s actions towards the so-called the migration crisis. The obtained research results complement the journalistic achievements in the field of research on Polish migration policy with the analysis of the content of the latest document, which is „Polityka migracyjna Polski – diagnoza stanu wyjściowego”.
