ABSTRACT
In the process of scientific cognition, an important issue is the efficient ability to build the area in which we will move during the research tasks being carried out. Therefore, after changes in the classification of sciences introduced by the Resolution of the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles of January 28, 2011 amending the resolution on the definition of fields of science and fields of art as well as scientific and artistic disciplines (MP 2011 No. 14, item 149), the need to conduct a discussion on the definition of areas of the group of sciences included in the newly established scientific disciplines and the identification of basic scientific specializations in them. In connection with the above, the author tried to distinguish one of the specialties in the field of scientific discipline - security science. The subject of the discussion is the area of crisis management - the aim is to show that it meets the requirements necessary to be recognized as a scientific specialty in the group of security sciences.
