ABSTRACT
If people knew everything about security, there would be no conflict or war. However, security is a concept that must be constantly updated and considered in order to enable modern nations not only to survive but also to thrive. Safety is a broad concept, and the demand for it comes with the birth of a human being and is inherent in people throughout their lives, regardless of the state, degree or direction of activity. Due to its essence and social importance, as mankind progresses, it becomes an increasingly complex issue. By its essence, security is a problem considered both from the point of view of individuals and entire communities and nations. The importance of these factors for shaping the security of the state may vary at different times, conditioned by a whole chain of connections and dependencies that have arisen in a given socio-political space with the participation of a given state, its neighbors and other international partners. The presented study concerns the reflection on the system of protection and defense of the individual, society and the state as a whole in the contemporary geopolitical conditions of the world. The author indicates the essence and nature of threats and their consequences for the respective spheres of security. It relates to the goal of the state security policy and indicates the sources and scale of threats in the subject criterion of the issue. The author of the article, based on his own research and literature on the subject, also shows the social dimension and impact on the sense of security in the perspective of the condition of the modern family, extensively emphasizing the functionality of this basic social unit. It also indicates the proportions of security defined in the social, national and international framework as well as relevant factors, such as economic and political, conditioning the comprehensive description of the issues raised in the context of national security.
