ABSTRACT
The article is a personal study of a philosophy for security and patriotic education,
based on experiences of the Polish and American armies. Some obvious similarities on that
matter can be observed in both cases. However, the differences growing out of specificity of
the armies, as well as those resulting from the size and particular problem occurences, are
being described. According to the author, said differences, tactics, and others put both armies
at opposite sides of a cultural abyss. Hence, the education for security should be planned
according to specific goals of those armies, leading to fulfillment of the NATO agreements.
