This article aims to present the activities of the formation serving the society and dedicated to protecting the safety of people and to maintaining security and public order, which the Police undoubtedly is, during a crisis situation such as the coronavirus pandemic - SARS-COV-2, causing the COVID-19 disease. The article also discusses the role of the state in ensuring the safety of its citizens through the adoption of appropriate normative acts regulating functioning of services, inspections and guards as part of crisis management. An attempt was also made to define the concept of security, one of the basic human needs, in this case, during a crisis situation, which may undoubtedly cause fear of losing loved ones, fear for health, chaos or uncertainty about what will happen tomorrow. Particular attention was focused on the activities of the supporting entity (Police), the activities of the leading entity (Sanepid) from the first disclosed case of the disease in the territory of the Republic of Poland, through protective, coordinating and supporting activities, to repressive ones. The role of the Police in the internal security system of the state was also determined by indicating the legal basis for functioning, staffing, absenteeism, procedures of conduct developed and implemented for effective operation of the service during crisis situations and prolonged activities in connection with it. Actions taken by the Provincial Police Commander in Gorzów Wielkopolski from the first case of COVID-19 on the territory of the Republic of Poland. It should also be emphasized that this article does not exhaust all activities undertaken by the supporting entity, and does not describe all levels of cooperation with other entities including the leading one due to the fact that these activities are classified.
