ABSTRACT
This article analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI tools (GenAI), on women's job security in Poland. Women's job security is understood as the combined maintenance of employment and income stability, access to advancement and competency development, and protection against discrimination and technological abuse (e.g., algorithmic bias). The aim of this study is to identify the channels through which AI impacts female-dominated labor market segments, as well as to assess the conditions under which it can strengthen or weaken women's professional position. The main research problem is presented as: does the development of AI pose a threat or an opportunity to maintain and strengthen women's professional position in a society based on digital technology? To verify this hypothesis, a research hypothesis was formulated: AI—despite the automation of feminized professions—can contribute to women's empowerment, provided that its development is supported by inclusive public policies and the development of digital competencies. The paper utilizes qualitative desk research and comparative analysis of secondary data: LFS statistics and publications from the Central Statistical Office (GUS), NASK-ILO reports on GenAI, studies by the Institute for Structural Research (IBS) and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), and selected academic studies in the area of gender and technology. The results of the aforementioned studies indicate that in Poland, exposure to GenAI is concentrated in office and administrative professions and information-based services, where women's participation is high, significantly increasing the risk of task restructuring, not just job elimination. At the same time, mechanisms perpetuating inequality can be observed through systems used in the decision-making process (recruitment, performance evaluation), as well as through the underrepresentation of women in the design of AI-based solutions. The discussion also presents implications for public policy and organizational practices in the Polish labor market (reskilling/upskilling, algorithm audits, equality standards, support for women aged 35+), along with specific examples of applied instruments. The study is exploratory in nature, and generalizations are limited by the availability of sectoral and regional data on the implementation processes of AI-based technologies in Poland.
