The work concerns the practical use of elements of the Galois theory in cryptographic applications in the aspect of national security. Therefore, the history of the birth of mathematics is presented, including the genesis of algebra and the meaning of this term. Then, a short description of the development of algebra in the abstract direction is presented and some elements of the classical Galois theory are discussed, which can be used in cryptographic implementations for the needs of national security and defense. Particular attention was paid to finite bodies and their extensions used to build encryption algorithms, and several WAT inventions based on solutions of this type were discussed.
