The article analyzes the concept of biopolitics, taking into account its determinants, systematization, as well as the implications and significance for the field of security science. Biopolitics is an ever-changing field. However, certain mechanisms of its functioning can be grasped. Naturalistic and political positions as well as contemporary theories referring to the ideas of Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben, Antoni Negri and Michael Hardt were assessed. The author also focuses on the past of this concept and the presentation of subjects and objects of biopolitics.
