The aim of the article is to present the issues of organized crime in Poland, taking into account the institutional aspects of combating it. Organized crime in our country does not have such a rich history as the Italian or Japanese, but its activities have constituted and poses a great threat to the stability of the economy and democracy in Poland. The peak of activity of criminal groups is in the 1990s. The Polish services needed several years to develop methods of effective fight against organized crime after the democratic changes. Currently, both the Police, Border Guard and special services are carrying out tasks related to combating this dangerous phenomenon. The effectiveness of this fight will depend on the ability to cooperate in the exchange of information, both between national services and other countries. The dynamics of operation and a wide spectrum of interests of criminal groups in obtaining illegal profits also require the ongoing adaptation of legal provisions in this area.
