ABSTRACT
Through main topic of the article author examines the process of positioning of the municipal police within the system of institutional bodies responsible for public safety and order. The scope of presented research includes the historical context and evolution of local government’s responsibilities in Poland, in view of protection of the public safety and order. And this, according to the author is justification and main reasons for the existence of local formations outside the uniform system of state security organs.
